PRAY FOR LORI

DECEMBER 27, 2000
Lori is a very sweet lady, 32 years old, that I met today online. She is battling bone cancer with lymph node involvement. Lori had her first surgery in July, is on chemo and has recently been diagnosed with a recurrence in her shoulder. This has been very discouraging & frightening for her to face. She is scheduled to have surgery again in January, to remove more of the shoulder & hopefully all of the tumor. Please pray for Lori to have peace of mind and heart. This is a very difficult time for her. She has a son Christopher who is 15, and her Mom is a great support person through this illness.. I told her we want to be an encouragement to her as well. Pray for this sweet family, that the Lord will reassure them that they are right in the palm of His hand. He'll never let go! Pray especially for this upcoming surgery to be successful in halting any further bone spread. . Lori, God speed you to good health again. We'll be much in prayer for you. Chin up! :-) God bless!

JANUARY 20, 2001 UPDATE
Lori saw her doctor yesterday, January 19, 2001 and it was found that she has several more tumors present in the neck / shoulder area - 8 now. On Tuesday she will see the doctor again and a surgery date will be set right away. Chemo and radiation are also planned. Right now, things do not look so encouraging - it would have been much better to have only the one to deal with. Lori is tired and discouraged with this news. I would ask those of you who are praying for Lori, please ask the Lord to give her His peace, to reassure her of His love and presence and sovereignty in her life. Lori, hang tough sweet girl. Don't lose heart. God has a good plan and purpose for your life. You will not go anywhere before you have completed the work He has given you to do. The Lord is there, He cares for you.

MARCH 23, 2001 UPDATE
I spoke with Lori tonight. She told me her surgery date is upcoming on the 10th (April). She has been very sick, she said. :-( The plan is to remove her whole shoulder this time. My heart just aches for her, as she is tired. . . worn out. . .the battle is tough. Yet she told me they hope with this radical surgery, to remove all the cancer. PRAY, PRAY for Lori that this will indeed be the case. It will be worth the pain, and loss to be rid of this beast. Christopher, her son is battling an ulcer and reflux and has been in the hospital as well.
Dear Lord, we don't understand. It seems like sometimes it not only rains, it pours, it floods, it destroys, or threatens to. . . the circumstances of Lori's and Christopher's lives are so difficult right now. Remind them continually that You are present with them, even now in this valley of the shadows. And the shadows are scary. Lord, light their way, show them out of this darkness, renew their hope, lead them back to the green pastures and the cool refreshing waters.

Lori mentioned "Chemo Angels" to me - they have been wonderful to send her so many cards and prayers and well wishes, she said. This is such a wonderful ministry, and Legacy is pleased to support it. You will find a link on the "Causes We Support" page ..
Well, after the surgery, more chemo is in store for Lori . . may it be effective in hunting down and killing any stray cells. Remember Lori in the coming days and weeks.

Last night I talked with Lori - she did have the surgery as was planned. Lori told me she was in a LOT of pain. :-( They removed her whole shoulder and inserted a metal plate there. She can expect paralysis of that arm, but the good news was that doctors found no evidence of spread of the disease. Nevertheless, beginning in 3 weeks, Lori will undergo an agressive chemo regimen in order to hopefully prevent any renegade cells from rebuilding elsewhere in her body. Lori is understandably tired, but seemed in good spirits last night and is making plans for her future! I was so happy to hear of her engagement and a date has been set for May 25, 2002! :-) CONGRATULATIONS LORI and best wishes and prayers for MANY happy years together!

Lori has a good support network in her parents, fiance`, son Christopher and a multitude of friends! She said there had been so much love and support!! Never doubt the power and effectiveness of prayer, friends! And do not neglect to do good, to those in need. The smallest kindness means the world to one who is battling!! Now pray for Lori to gain strength and be able to endure the course of chemo ahead and then GET ON WITH LIFE!!

MAY 26, 2001
I heard from Lori today. She is still battling depression and it's very hard to get used to the metal plate shoulder. For all that she has been through, being down at times is very understandable. Pray for Lori in this area, for the Lord's encouragement and love to be very evident to her. Her chemo will be beginning this coming Tuesday, May 29th. This chemo will run for 8 weeks and Lori said she is scared. Pray for this treatment to be EFFECTIVE, and for side affects to be minimal. This sweet lady has really endured a lot. May the Lord give her His mercy and grace, enabling her to endure. HANG IN THERE, Lori. God bless you.

I talked with Lori today. She said that she was still going back and forth for treatments, still on many meds and will be for a long time to come. She has recently had some problems associated with her liver not processing all these medications very well. I asked her how she thought treatments were going. . she said the doctor tells her they ARE helping, but her bones are very weak from all this trauma. On a happy and positive note, Lori shared that she was all finished with her wedding plans! : ) Please continue to pray for Lori.

Psalm 31:14-15a, 24
But as for me, I trust in Thee, O Lord, I say, "Thou art my God." My times are in Thy hand. Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord.
