~ FOLLOWING THE TRAIL OF LOVE ~
Sometimes the cancer beast wins. Sometimes after a long hard battle, one just can't go on anymore. There is no strength left for any more earthly battles. Or sometimes after a short fierce battle, life is suddenly snuffed out - without warning, or time to prepare for battle. In the early days after the beast wins, we are so gripped with pain and remembrance of the last days, we can temporarily forget the life that was well lived. Pain and grief can crowd out our memories so that we can hardly even remember our loved one's face or voice, or happy times and memories made together.
Just as the first green sprigs of grass and tips of strong, sturdy daffodil leaves push through the cold, hard ground and into the brisk, air of early spring, and shout "Awake! Come alive! Be reborn!" - so will the pain and grief of death, give way to the tender shoots of stronger faith, and certain hope of the ressurection of our bodies, and renew in our hearts, the memories of LIFE. We will find ourselves recalling with love, first a thing or two here and there - a funny joke or incident, a special look at a happy time, small things that when remembered, sometimes bring a tear, but sometimes bring a smile! In the beginning we find ourselves grieving when these special memories come up from the recesses of our hearts. But eventually we will come to cherish these special "visits" and welcome their entrance into our daily lives and routines.
Legacy's Memorial Trail of Love is a place of remembrance of those we have come to know and love here. Legacy is like any family. We laugh together, chat daily and get to know one another. We come to know each other's families. We share joys and sorrows, we share laughter and tears, and prayers. And when the beast manages to separate us, we grieve, like any family. But we want to keep alive, those precious memories of the heart. Following the Trail of Love, will take us back to remembered joys, shared treasures of the heart.
We refuse to memorialize the death and last days of our beloved Legacy friends, because they are not dead. They are more alive than ever, and those who trusted in the strong name of the Lord, live even now, in the city of God. We choose rather to celebrate their lives here among us... to recall the essence of their souls, that which made each one unique, special, loved. When you meet up with various ones on the trail, we want the memories to gladden your heart, encourage your faith, renew your hope of heaven, and give you a smile to take with you.
NEW! Catching up with Benjamin on the trail.
This special section of Legacy, I dedicate to the Legacy Prayer Warriors. You have loved, cared for and prayed without ceasing for these precious people.. and grieved along with me, when they had to go.
Each one of you is a treasure!
In His great love,
Lynn
