The Word of God is alive. It is profitable for giving us understanding and direction in all areas of life. In times of pain, trouble, uncertainty, fear, sickness, suffering and most certainly death -- the scriptures are a lifeline for our troubled hearts. They give us hope. They bring us peace and comfort. They assure us that though in this world, we shall have troubles, we can persevere with hope for a glorious forever, in heaven with the Lord. He has promised it, to those who love Him and look for His coming. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread? Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I will put my trust in Thee. Psalm 118:6 The Lord is for me; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? And yet not one of them is forgotten before God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are of more value than many sparrows. Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. Psalm 31:24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord. John 16:33 Jesus spake, "These things have I spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, in His arm He will gather the lambs, and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes.
Isaiah 40:11

Discouragement, when left to run its' course, often leads to despair. Despair keeps us from realizing our position in Christ, keeps us from realizing His love and care for us, renders us ineffective, robs us of hope, which is essential to our mental, spiritual and physical well-being. These verses that follow, when taken to heart and applied, can encourage us again, and renew our hope. 2 Corinthians. 4:15-18 All things are for your sakes, that the grace, which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For monetary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psalm 25:16-18, 20 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. Look upon my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. Guard my soul and deliver me; Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in Thee. Psalm 34:4,6-7,15,17-19,22 I sought the Lord and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants; and none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son Of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.
Galatians 2:20

The following scriptures are from God's word -- to those who are suffering in grief. God is very near to those who are brokenhearted. He alone, can heal your broken heart. There is hope for the griefstricken - Run to Him. Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Revelation 21:3-5 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them, and He shall wipe every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." |
